Great tune from the Anthill Mob under the moniker Studio 2. Dirty games indeed.
FBD Project were Neil Trix and Watton G which always made me think of Watoo Watoo, the single strangest animation ever made (outside of Japan, it was French). It was about some sort of space bird who addressed environmental issues a good twenty years before Al Gore.
Anyway The Core is a blinding tune from the golden era of darkside drum and bass. Another one with noises that make you think of spaceships careening past. I first heard it on a Top Buzz tape and nearly wore that particular part out. Great stuff.
This one is here because it pretty much sums up the sound of a pack of Edge tapes I had / have and liked very much. Omni Trio, who confusingly is only one person, on the remix.
Absolute monster of a tune written by two guys, one of whom is half of Basement Jaxx.
When I first started getting tapes off people I thought I’d buy some of my own and the first one was something called ‘Bassrush’ or similar. I was attracted by the psychedelic cover. Anyway, it was predictably underwhelming except for this tune which I listened to again and again. Despite humming / singing it to various people (never works) I didn’t knew what it was until I heard it on an internet radio show and emailed in to ask. Internet I love you.
Stone cold classic from Ellis Dee. Stormer.
I like Marcus Intalex. He knows how to do euphoric without falling into the oh so enticing cheese trap. The cheese trap is lined with the corpses of tracks that couldn’t escape its irrestistable lure. It is a vibrantly coloured but desolate place with no substance or soul. Like Bournemouth.
